University of Maryland Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center

Our team performed a tremendous task in the electrical construction of this $107 million, performing arts “village” which included ten interconnected buildings totaling 318,000 square feet. The space serves as the foremost training facility for students who are studying for work as directors, sound, and lighting operators and a number of other behind-the-scene professions, as well as those preparing for onstage roles.

The build of this modern facility included classrooms, lecture halls, seminar rooms, 50 practice and rehearsal rooms, 100 offices, a café, a 250-seat recital hall, a 600-seat proscenium theater, an 1,100-seat concert hall, a 200-seat studio theater, 23,000 square foot library, 180-seat dance theater and a 100-seat experimental theater.

Our electrical team provided all electrical and distribution work. ArchKey Technologies coordinated the work of numerous audio-visual specialty firms. Working with multiple manufacturers, we connected the latest model soundboards, lighting panels and theatrical dimming systems and controls throughout the village, as well as the fire detection system and extensive voice and data cabling.
