With 10 floors of interactive exhibits (5 above and 5 below ground), the National Museum of African American History and culture is the nation’s largest cultural destination devoted exclusively to exploring, documenting, and showcasing the African American experience.
Established by an Act of Congress in 2003, the nearly 400,000 square foot museum is prominently located next to the Washington Monument. This museum is the culmination of decades of efforts to establish a national museum that promotes the richness, diversity, and contributions of African American culture throughout our nation – and the world.
Our team performed all electrical, distribution, and fire alarm work for this project which included a network of more than 100 miles of electrical conduit and nearly 400 miles of copper wire. The fire alarm system is a state-of-the-art, high-rise, multiplexed voice evacuation system. ArchKey Technologies provided all technologies including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection systems, and the infrastructure for the audio/visual and information technology systems used throughout the museum.
